Although the Moving Families Foundation™ supports ALL PARENTS moving, our aim is to provide life insurance protection for eligible single parent households (mom or dad) when they move or relocate to a new home with children, ages 19 and younger, with a specific focus on protection for their children. The Foundation will provide and pay for the first two years of a $100,000.00 term life insurance policy for qualified single parents and a $10,000.00 rider for each of their qualified children when they move or relocate to a new home, whether they move across town or across the country. The single parent family will own and be the beneficiary of the insurance policies via the Moving Families Single Parent Protection Plan.
Eligibility
If you are a single parent and move or relocate with your children, ages 19 and younger, to a new home as part of a “Confirmed Move,” as defined by the Moving Families Foundation™’s guidelines *(link to Moving Families Foundation guidelines)*, you are eligible for the Moving Families Single Parent Protection Plan, if you meet the plan’s selection criteria.
“Confirmed Move” to a new home for a single parent household
Whether children’s parent or legal guardian of a single parent household is a renter or homeowner, the following must be present for eligibility purposes for the Moving Families Single Parent Protection Plan:
If you are a single parent and move or relocate with your children, ages 19 and younger, to a new home as part of a “Confirmed Move,” as defined by the Moving Families Foundation™’s guidelines *(link to Moving Families Foundation guidelines)*, you are eligible for the Moving Families Single Parent Protection Plan, if you meet the plan’s selection criteria.
“Confirmed Move” to a new home for a single parent household
Whether children’s parent or legal guardian of a single parent household is a renter or homeowner, the following must be present for eligibility purposes for the Moving Families Single Parent Protection Plan:
- As part of their move to a new home, single parent or legal guardian must be registered at the Moving Families Initiative® Connectivity Platform™ AND the Moving Families Foundation™ [Single Parent Protection Plan Interest Form] prior to the move-in date specified in their rental or lease agreement if they are a renter; or prior to their close of escrow date if they are a purchaser.
- For renters, single parent or legal guardian must have a verifiable (verified by the Moving Families Foundation™) signed rental or lease agreement for the new rental property that they are moving into as their primary place of residency. For eligibility purposes, the children and their parents or legal guardian must move into the home for the move to become qualified as a “Confirmed Move” for the single parent family.
- For homeowners, single parent or legal guardian must have a verifiable (verified by the Moving Families Foundation™) signed purchase agreement for the new home they are moving into as their primary place of residency. For eligibility purposes, the children and their parents or legal guardian must move into their new home for the move to become qualified as a “Confirmed Move” for the single parent family.
Single parent household qualification guidelines and selection criteria
An eligible single parent household (mom or dad) is defined as a family with children ages 19 and younger living in their primary place of residence headed by a single parent or legal guardian (as ordered by the courts). The following are part of the criteria used in the selection process of applicant for the Moving Families Single Parent Protection Plan:
The Moving Families Single Parent Protection Plan offers
To provide and pay for the first two-years a 10-year $100,000.00 term life insurance policy, with a $10,000.00 juvenile insurance rider for each of the single parent’s eligible children, ages 19 and younger. The single parent family will own and be the beneficiary of the policy. The Moving Families Foundation™ will provide and pay for the first two years of the plan. Thereafter, single parents may choose to maintain the coverage beyond the two-year period at their sole discretion. Single parents understand and agree that the Moving Families Foundation™ will not be responsible for any insurance premium or payments beyond the two-year commitment provided by the Moving Families Single Parent Protection Plan.

An eligible single parent household (mom or dad) is defined as a family with children ages 19 and younger living in their primary place of residence headed by a single parent or legal guardian (as ordered by the courts). The following are part of the criteria used in the selection process of applicant for the Moving Families Single Parent Protection Plan:
- Be registered at the Moving Families Initiative® Connectivity Platform™ and the Moving Families Foundation™, as a single parent or legal guardian household.
- Be head of a single parent household, with minimum 50% legal custody (as ordered by the courts) of your children ages 19 and younger, residing in the home with you.
- Is widowed, divorced, and not remarried or
- Has never married; or
- Is legally separated (as ruled by the courts).
- Has a minimum 50% or more legal custody of their children (as ordered by the courts)
- Is head of household and children reside with them a minimum 50% or more of the time.
- Claims head of household and children as dependents for tax purposes.
- Confirmation of your move to a new home with your children, which you reside in as your primary place of residency.
- Have your children, ages 19 and younger registered and enrolled in a school of your choice.
- Complete the plan’s designated life insurance company’s application.
- Accept single parent’s final qualification based on meeting and accepting the plan’s designated life insurance company’s qualification criteria.
- Acceptance by the life insurance provider issuing the insurance protection.
- Commitment to serving others as evident by your participation in volunteering in school, religious, or community activities.
- Commitment to growing in your leadership and positively impact others, such as family, work, community, etc.

Yes, however, you must reside in the United States or a U.S. territory and meet all the other selection criteria, including that of the life insurance company provider.
Are single parent’s children required to participant in extracurricular activities?
No, however, applicant’s children are encouraged to participate in an extracurricular activity or activities of their choice.
If I get married after being awarded the Moving Families Single Parent Protection Plan benefits, do I lose them?
No, you do not lose your protection.
Will I be liable for taxes?
A portion of the cost of the insurance protection provided may be considered taxable by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. Recipients are responsible for determining their tax liability for the benefits, and for reporting the taxable portions as income, if applicable. See your accountant or CPA for details.
Am I allowed to receive other insurance benefits and still qualify for the Moving Families Single Parent Protection Plan?
Yes, the Moving Families Single Parent Protection Plan has no restrictions.

Initially, all insurance policies will be awarded to eligible recipients on a first come, first awarded basis, based on availability at the time of request (See Terms and Conditions). Insurance policies will be offered in this manner until such time as we hit the Foundation’s goal to offer them to all eligible candidates, according to plan.
