Moving Families Foundation, Inc.
All eligible high school students who move or relocate to a new home with their parents or legal guardian during their high school years are offered a $4,000.00 college scholarship via the Moving Families College Scholarship Plan, whether they move across town or across the country. Qualified students will receive $1,000.00 for each of their freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years at a fully accredited Trade School, Junior College, Community College, or four-year College of their choice.

For eligibility purposes, as part of the Moving Families College Scholarship Plan, your high school years are defined as follows. “The day on or after a student has graduated from the 8th grade to the date on or after they graduate from high school.”
If you are a high school student, and move or relocate with your parents or legal guardian to a new home during your high school years, you will receive a $4,000.000 Moving Families College Scholarship, if you meet the plan’s selection criteria. Your move must be part of a “Confirmed Move” as defined by the Moving Families Foundation™’s guidelines.

Whether a student’s parents or legal guardian (by court order) is a renter or homeowner, the following must be present for a move to qualify as a “Confirmed Move” for eligibility purposes to receive a Moving Families College Scholarship:
- High school student’s parents or legal guardian must be registered at the Moving Families Initiative® Connectivity Platform™ AND the Moving Families Foundation™ *[College Scholarship Plan Interest Form} prior to the move-in date specified in their rental or lease agreement if they are a renter; or prior to their close of escrow date if they are a purchaser.
- For renters, student’s parents or legal guardian must have a signed rental or lease agreement (verified by the Moving Families Foundation™) for the new rental property that they are moving into, which must be dated on or after the date student officially graduates from the 8th grade; or on or before the date student officially graduates from high school. For eligibility purposes, the student and their parents or legal guardian must move into their new home during this time.
- For homeowners, student’s parents or legal guardian must have a signed purchase agreement (verified by the Moving Families Foundation™) for the new home they are moving into with a closing date on or after the date student officially graduates from the 8th grade; or on or before the date they officially graduate from high school. For eligibility purposes, the student and their parents or legal guardian must move into their new home during this time.
Qualification Guidelines
To qualify for a Moving Families College Scholarship, student must:
- Have their parents or legal guardian’s “Confirmed Move” take place during their high school years and verified by the Moving Families Initiative® Connectivity Platform™ and the Moving Families Foundation™.
- Be enrolled in a high school of their choice.
- Graduate from a U.S. high school.
- Intend to enroll in an accredited Trade School, Junior College, Community College, or four-year College of their choice.
- Receive standardized test scores of either an SAT or ACT to meet the minimum qualifying standard for admission in the college of their choice.
- Receive an acceptance confirmation to a college of your choice, verified by providing a copy to the Moving Families Foundation™, by the college they plan to attend.
Selection Criteria
The following are among the criteria used in the selection process:
- “Confirmed Move” to a new home with your parents or legal guardian, as a high school student.
- Maintaining minimum academic and character standards at your high school to qualify for admission to the college of your choice.
- Meet the minimum college entrance exam for SAT and/or ACT for admission to the college of your choice.
- Commitment to learning combined with strong character as evident in your determination to set goals and the perseverance to remain focused on achieving them in the face of obstacles or barriers.
- Commitment to serving others as evident by your participation in volunteering in school religious or community activities.
- Commitment to growing in your leadership and positively impact others in school and in other areas, such as family, arts, sports, community, etc.

There are two-parts to this answer. Yes, you can apply if you have not taken the ACT or SAT. However, to qualify for a Moving Families College Scholarship, the College you plan on attending may require you to take the SAT and/or ACT test according to their admission criteria at the appropriate time. Check with that respective college for more details.
Am I eligible to apply if I receive a GED diploma?
Yes, if you meet the other selection criteria, you are eligible to apply.
Am I eligible to apply if I am not a U.S. citizen?
Yes, however, you must reside in the United States or a U.S. territory and meet all the other selection criteria.
Is applicant required to participant in extracurricular activities?
No. However, applicant is encouraged to participate in an extracurricular activity or activities of their choice.
When does the application period begin, and what is the deadline?
The application period opens on the day the applicant moves into their new home with their parent or legal guardian as part of a “Confirmed Move”, any time after they have graduated from the 8th grade. The application period ends on the date the applicant graduates from high school.
Are there any costs or fees associated with applying for Moving Families College Scholarships?
No, there are no costs.

How am I affected if I am a student, or a student-athlete holding college scholarship offers from different colleges or Universities?
If you are holding a full scholarship offer from a college or University and you sign with that school, you may be prohibited from receiving any other scholarships or financial aid from any other source, other than that school. You are advised to check with the school you are considering signing or have signed with to confirm.
If you are holding a partial scholarship from the school you are considering signing or have signed with, you are advised to check with the school, as you may be eligible to also receive the Moving Families College Scholarship.
Do I have to attend college in the U.S.?
Yes, you must attend an accredited Trade School, Junior College, Community College, or four-year College in the U.S.
Are there restrictions on fields of study for Moving Families College Scholarship recipients?
No, you can pursue a degree in any field of study of your choice. However, non-degree programs are not eligible.

Initially, all extracurricular activities scholarships will be awarded to qualified recipients on a first come, first awarded basis—based on availability at the time of request. Scholarships will be offered in this manner until such time as we hit the Foundation’s goal to offer them to all eligible candidates, according to plan.
