When my parents moved, as a child every move was never an easy transition. I remember the first time we moved to a new city, my parents had no idea I had not made any new friends at school. It took me a long time to make new friends. Although I loved football, it was not easy to approach others at school to play with them. When my parents signed me up with a local team a year later, things changed immediately in my life. I made new friends with common interests. With that one move, I became happier in my life, had more confidence, and my grades went up as a result which was also a requirement in order to stay in the league. If my parents had the opportunity to have a program like the Moving Families Initiative program, my transitions to new places would have been tremendously easier growing up.
